Justification for Podcasts

Creating a podcast can effectively support a website or blog by extending its reach, improving engagement and strengthening its overall content strategy. Academic research suggests that audiences engage more deeply when content is delivered across multiple modes such as text and audio, this is because it allows the user to choose formats that align with their preferences and lifestyles (Sharon, 2023). A podcast therefore complements written blog posts by attracting users who may prefer listening while commuting or multitasking.

Podcasts also support content development and reinforcement. Topics explored on a blog can be expanded through podcast episodes that allow for discussion, explanation and reflection. Persohn et al. (2024) argue that podcasts are particularly effective for knowledge dissemination because they present information in an accessible and conversational manner, while still communicating expertise across. Embedding podcasts within blog posts or publishing episode summaries enhance content depth without repeating yourself, which adds high level value to the website as a content hub.

In addition, podcast listenership in the United Kingdom has been increasing year by year, having reached an estimated 15.5 million listeners in 2025 (Stoll, 2025). This increase shows the growing demand for podcasts in the UK which shows how important they are becoming for brands and companies to utilise. In addition, podcasts can drive traffic back to a website. Episodes may include references and calls to action that can direct listeners to related blog posts or resources within the website.

Podcasts further contribute to trust and credibility as listeners often perceive podcast hosts as authentic and trustworthy due to the personal nature of the communication (Evans, 2008). This sense of a connection can enhances a websites authority and encourage repeat visits.

Overall, a podcast functions as a strategic extension of a website or blog by improving accessibility, increasing engagement and strengthen audience trust. Therefore, resulting in a more dynamic and effective digital presence.
